Fencing

Last week I went to a taster session of fencing; something I’ve wanted to try for a very long time and somehow never got around to doing, and it was alright. Not fantastic, not crap, just alright. This week I woke up precisely twelve minutes before the start of the session feeling fairly dodgy after the night before, and I almost, so almost, didn’t go.

I am so glad I did. It was terrific, although my arm still aches from waving a foil around in a thrust/parry/riposte manner. It is insanely fast, somewhat technical, surprisingly tiring and strangely satisfying all at once.

If you ever have a chance to do something but you’re not sure, go. It might just make your day!

(might be getting internet soon!)

  1. I can’t imagine fencing with a hangover…it doesn’t appeal at all, however much I’d quite like to try fencing at some point…

Meanwhile, yes, seconded – I’ve seriously caught the climbing bug. So glad I actually managed to get up in time for the taster climb! And at least some of the subsequent ones.
