October 12, 2009 on 10:21 pm | In News | No CommentsApparently, sleep is a bit old school. I had an awesome weekend of true awesomeness involving 7 hours of badminton, two very heavy nights at Jesters, and a seemingly unlimited font of pure enthusiasm which fuelled me onwards through tiredness, hunger and a lack of fitness. It was, in a word, brilliant. Last nights insomnia was less fun, but was my own fault for being lazy. Somehow though, despite having an average of 4 hours of sleep a night for the last three nights, I still feel kind of energised. Hypomania, eh? Hmmmm.
Also:
This is good. Positively enriching and heartening as well.
This is both amusing and unsurprising, and says a lot about the state of the profession.
I’m off to bed for hopefully a whole night’s sleep. Wish me luck.
Awk
September 19, 2009 on 8:58 pm | In News | 4 CommentsAwkward, the feeling of possessing awk, whatever that once was. Today, I feel awkward.
This is due to a social situation which only peripherally involves me, but which is currently ongoing in my house. I have locked myself in my room for now. It’s nothing too major, but it does make me feel just slightly uncomfortable.
Ah well. I’ll get used to it.
In other news, how can the Americans still see this as justice? This is disgusting.

Abercrombie & Fitch
August 13, 2009 on 5:46 pm | In News | 5 CommentsThis is about the lady who was put into the stock room by managers for not conforming with the stores ‘look’ policy’. She has a prosthetic arm. Read the article for more information: I think the outcome of the trial is damn right. The store had it coming with behaviour like that. However…
“She was awarded £136 compensation, £6,800 for hurt feelings and £1,077 for loss of earnings.”
£136 compensation? and £6,800 for hurt feelings? What on earth is the compensation for then, and how much are hurt feelings worth, exactly? I disagree with the centre statement, I think it should be excluded and that the court ruling should have included £6,936 compensation and £1,077 for loss of earnings.
Something about getting paid for hurt feelings irritates me. It’s no fault of the girl, but I think that balance should have been addressed. I’ve not put this well, but I hope it makes sense to you.
Your thoughts?

This post will get a lot longer in the oncoming days.
Earth Hour
March 31, 2009 on 8:16 am | In Happenings, News, Thoughts | 3 Comments“Critics describe the event as symbolic and a meaningless gesture.”
Surely the aim of a protest is to raise awareness. Symbols are powerful things for such a goal. I agree with Earth Hour.
Do you?
